Sometimes I get a question that asks, maybe with some fear, can I ever be removed from the book of life?

And this is a reasonable question because Revelation chapter 3 verse 5 makes a promise to true believers that they will never be, and it's an old phrase, blotted out or erased from the book of life. That's just a phrase though that gives assurance of salvation. It doesn't mean, first of all, that somehow every human being began written in the book of life and God is just systematically marking people off. Neither does it mean that your name is in the book of life and then God gets mad at you and erases your name and then you get saved again and you get written back in. It doesn't mean that either.

The idea of being in the book of life is permanent. That when you are written into the book of life, God has saved you and you may enjoy full assurance of salvation.
